yeah this was always kinda inevitable. vscode was great because it felt open, but once real money + competition showed up, microsoft was never gonna just sit back.

cursor growing that fast definitely got their attention. makes sense they'd start quietly closing doors rather than doing something heavy-handed like blocking marketplace access outright.

openvsx is a cool idea but still feels half-baked, not sure if it can catch up unless more big players start backing it.
